Holland

This guidebook about the Netherlands is in two languages, English and Dutch, to inform both the Dutch themselves and visiting foreigners. Besides listing all the usual hotspots, it has a keen eye for hidden treasures. You’ll not only read about the well-known Aalsmeer flower corso parade, but also about an exquisite museum like Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen. It gives information about a little-known gem like nature reserve de Hoeksche Waard and on the world-famous Delta Works; on a visit to the picturesque Zaanse Schans, but also tells about eating fries at the trendy Frites Ateliers. You’ll find tips on shopping in Maastricht and learn why visiting the small town of Buren in the province of Gelderland is an absolute must. All in all a very versatile book, that starts out with a short introduction on Dutch history, illustrated by lots of photos, showing that Holland’s past is still very much alive.”
